It services 160,000 people and recycles water for onsite re-use, irrigation of the local golf course and environmental flows. Pipe Infrastructure Capabilities
St Marys wastewater recycling plant treats 33.5 million litres per day through three main treatment process. Allmach’s water treatment supplied pipe, fittings and valves for the variety of services that are needed to operate a treatment plant. Allmach’s SurePress SS316 press fit piping system, UNiPLAS Sch80 piping system and Stream PE100 piping system were utilised for the water, compressed air and chemical dosing pipe runs. Uniplas pipe and fittings are manufactured from Sch80 uPVC, giving them greater strength and flexibility, are UV stabilised, corrosion and chemical resistant, lightweight and non-toxic. Stream is a robust and flexible polyethylene (PE) pipe and fittings range suitable for use in recycled and potable water, and for faster installation, the range includes electrofusion fittings.
Challenges and Solutions
St Marys wastewater treatment facility project had a strict project schedule, and another key challenge was limited space in the processing and treatment areas. The installer used the Surepress system because it is corrosion-proof, leak-proof and has wash-down properties. In addition, and pipe are easier to install in confined spaces with no welding and hot work permits required. QA checks were easier due to the press-check sleeve film and leak path O-rings: this enables easy identification of any unpressed fittings. SurePress piping system made the installation faster, easier, and safer to install saving significant time and money.
